Q: How far ahead in advance should I book a train ticket?

Within China mainland:

Most of time it is very difficult to book a train ticket, especially during the period of Chinese spring festival (falls between late January to early February), Labor day (first week in May), Chinese National week celebration (first week in October), also during summer holiday and winter holiday. Therefore, if you would like to to book train tickets through us, we recommend that you make a reservation at least one week in advance.

During slack seasons, however, train tickets in China have to be bought 4 days before departure date. No more, no less. So it would still be appropriate to contact us a week in advance so we can make sure the tickets are bought 4 days before your departure date.

Also, transits going to big cosmopolitan cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and the like, are always in its "peak" all year round. So our advice, book your ticket in advance lest they run out of ticket for your preferred departure date.

International train ticket:

We can also purchase international train ticket for you. DUe to the enormous demand, you should make the reservation 1 month in advance. For group tickets, it is preferable to place the reservation at least 2 months in advance. In addition, when requesting a reservation please provide a copy of your passport and visa. This information is necessary to purchase the tickets.

Please note however, that during the Chinese Spring festival, we would not be able to provide the service of buying train ticket/s for you. During this season, both locals and foreigners travel throughout the Mainland by train and there is huge possibility that it would be impossible for us to get a ticket for you.

Q: When can I get the tickets?
In accordance with the (somewhat antiquated) rules of Railway system in China, the hard copy ticket can only be obtained for you at most 4 days in advance.

The only exceptions are during the periods of Chinese spring festival, summer and winter holidays and all other holidays as mentioned earlier. During these times, the ticket can be obtained 10 days in advance.

And as previously noted, there will be no train ticket booking service at our end during the Chinese Spring Festival.

Q: What's the service charge?

There is a fixed service charge of $25.00/per ticket. We in turn pay this service charge to the agent who will buy the tickets for you. As you can see, buying a train ticket in China is not an easy task, for this is the most economical means of transport. And this entails queuing in the train station for hours, especially during peak season.

We also offer delivery service, which we can only send to your hotel or (home or office, if any) address in China. The delivery charge is only $10.00 (within Chinese mainland).

If you prefer to personally obtain the said ticket/s in our office, please make sure you come to pick up the said ticket/s or we will not be obligated in any way for your failure to respond to this responsibility.

If you are not in China when you book the ticket, we could send the ticket by UPS. But we do not recommend using UPS, as the shipping time can be lengthy, so there is a possibility that the ticket will arrive after the train!

Q: When should I pay for my tickets?

All ticket payments and other service dues must be paid in advance after confirmation with our tour coordinator. Due to the pre-payment policy of the China Railway Station, we cannot guarantee any reservation or ticket unless we receive full payment from you including service charges, etc, whichever is applicable. When you are already in China and wish to have your ticket refunded, you can personally go to the train station and have it cancelled there yourself.

We abide by our non-cancellation and non-refund policy and we will not entertain any refund or cancellation once ticket/s have been confirmed and bought.
